Local State Farm agents continue to show their commitment to ending childhood hunger in Ionia and Montcalm counties by working with the the IM Kids 3rd Meal program. This is the second year that State Farm agents Rick Rogusky, Wendy Rode, Neil Brown, and Michael Culp have volunteered together each month at IM Kids.
State Farm agent Rick Rogusky speaks highly of his experiences of volunteering for IM Kids, “We truly enjoy being involved with the IM Kids 3rd Meal Program because it gives us an opportunity to make a positive difference in so many kids’ lives. Helping others is a big part of the culture at State Farm. It’s what we do every day. It not only feels good helping out, it’s always a bunch of fun”.
By volunteering, these four State Farm agents are helping to give food insecure children access to food and the benefits that come from being well-nourished and ready to learn by providing nutritious, kid-friendly evening meals alleviating hunger when they are not in school.
On October 13, 2016, these agents also presented a $1000 check to the program. Their dedication to volunteering and monetary grant is an example of State Farm’s philosophy of giving back to community.
IM Kids 3rd Meal is a success because of the support and partnerships we have with community. As of May 2016, the program has served 123,640 meals to food insecure children using 7958 volunteers who have provided 13,199 volunteer hours to the program. The program hopes to add two more schools to the four currently served this year. The $1000 grant from State Farm will help us reach this goal.
